How to Prepare for IELTS in 6 Weeks
Six weeks won't turn a beginner into a fluent speaker, but it's enough time to move your IELTS band score meaningfully if you focus on the test's actual mechanics rather than general English study.
Weeks one and two should be diagnostic: take a full practice test under real time pressure and identify which of the four sections — Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking — is genuinely holding your score down. Most students assume it's vocabulary; it's usually time management or a specific task type (like the IELTS Writing Task 1 graph description) that they've never practiced.
Weeks three and four go deep on that weak section daily, while maintaining lighter practice on the other three. If Writing is your gap, this means analyzing band-9 sample answers line by line, not just writing more essays blind.
Weeks five and six shift back to full timed practice tests, twice a week, followed by careful review of every wrong answer's underlying reason. The goal isn't more content by the end — it's fewer avoidable mistakes under time pressure, which is where most points are actually lost.
